Latino Catholicism: Transformation in America's Largest Church by Timothy Matovina

Most histories of Catholicism in the United States focus on the experience of Euro-American Catholics, whose views on social issues have dominated public debates. Latino Catholicism provides a comprehensive overview of the Latino Catholic experience in America from the sixteenth century to today, and offers the most in-depth examination to date of the important ways the U.S. Catholic Church, its evolving Latino majority, and American culture are mutually transforming one another.

In Latino Catholicism, Timothy Matovina highlights the vital contributions of Latinos to American religious and social life, demonstrating in particular how their engagement with the U.S. cultural milieu is the most significant factor behind their ecclesial and societal impact.

Phobism
great book that puts Latino Catholicism in the US in a historical and social context. Timothy Matovina has put together some great commentary accompanied by human stories and anecdotes, providing the pastoral minister with important information to assist in knowing the "bigger" picture
Tyler Is Not Here
Matovina describes accurately the status of Hispanic Ministry in the United States. He provides information regarding some of the new movements in the development of the Hispanic Catholic Church in the US. His analysis of leadership was very helpful for my work. Even though his work is centered in the Hispanic group, many of the dynamics presented are also relevant for other immigrant communities; especially the newer ones.
Joni_Dep
I liked the way mr. Matovina covers so many aspects so thoroughly. I found myself continually strngthened in insights that I had come to through 25 + years of Hispanic ministry and agreeing with his insights that I was not aware of.

Amazing book
