This is vintage Lamour--and like almost all of his other novels (NOBODY is 100% consistently good--or bad) it takes one out of the hundrum everyday world and into a (maybe mythical) Old West of personal freedom, brave men, beautiful women, courageous acts. Good always won, Evil was always punished. It creates in me a nostalgic yearning for something that I never knew or could have known.
Tyler Is Not Here
As with most of his tales the good guys win the girl and defeat the bad guy. One could get tired of the repetition, but the ability to spin each tale so it seems fresh and new, that is what makes his stories unique and wonderful.

I've always liked this book. L'Amour describes the setting and outs the reader right into each scene. He's a bit repetitious and sometimes preachy about the character ans philosophy it took to settle in the "West" but I'm a Westerner, so I don't mind. Thus the mindset I grew up with.
Ieregr
Follows the L'Amour formula. Enjoyable and entertaining.
Sat
A very good read. The only problem I have with Louis L'Amour books is not being able to stop until I finish.
BORZOTA
Loved it. Weapons descriptions were flawless in every detail as were geographical data. Fight descriptions obviously based on first hand experience.
Fast Lovebird
GOOD READING EVEN IF SOME OF IT SEEMED TO BE WRITTEN BEFORE.
Great read by the master story teller. As usual, he gives one the sense of what the west was like, the dangers faced, and and the sometimes narrow line between good and bad of western men.
