Bad Sunny
The true story of how General Patton secretly overstepped his authority by sending an undermanned, under armed task foce on a top secret mission r 60 miles behind enemy lines with the sole purpose of rescuing his son-in-law from a German POW camp. The task force managed to reach the POW camp, but then the whole mission fell apart and all task force personnel involved were either captured, killed, or became POW's.

The book does read like a novel as many have already commented. My primary gripe is the book bogs down quite a bit at the start as it provides the biography of each of the main characters. So the reader is really grinding away on the bios before the story begins. Once the story begins, however, this is a very gripping true tale. Abe Baum and his team are definitely heroes for what they did and attempted to do. These mass-market paperbacks tend to be excellent values. The price is right and the publishers have usually separated the wheat from the chaff when selecting what to publish.

I knew Major Abraham J. Baum, DSC, AUS (Fmr) personally and considered him a close friend. Unfortunately, he passed away on March 3rd, 2013. He will be missed by all who knew him - a great American Hero. I have heard his story many times and thought I "knew it all", but I learned more from reading this book. It is a fascinating narrative, meticulously researched and chock full of details of the War years in Germany.
If you're a WII buff, this is an excellent read. A truly unknown episode of the war.
