Fifty-Seven Stories of Saints by Jerry Rizzo,Eileen Heffernan

Portrays the lives of fifty-seven Christian saints from the time of Jesus through the twentieth century, and suggests ways to apply what each stood for to one's own life.
The book 57 Saints was outstanding. I had a copy of 57 Saints for Children. I wanted all of the families of my grand children who were making their 1st Holy Communion to have a copy of that phenomenal book of saints stories. Only one thing disappointed me about the latest issues of the book entitled 57 Saints. The more recent issues left out the outstanding story about St. Tarcicius. You can imagine my delight to find that some of the latter books contain the story of that heroic young saint of the Eucharist. I am extremely grateful that most of my grandchildren will now receive the story of a young man who gave his life to protect the Sacred Species of the Body of Christ. Thank you and may our Divine Saviour be your constant companion!
I have really enjoyed reading these stories on the saints. Each book seems to be a little different rendition but this one has a lot more details. It is well written and easy to read.
Great product I would recommend it again.
It is very interesting. The stories are short and very interesting. I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in this topic. I am not much of a practicing Catholic, but this topic always interested me and I would recommend this book to anyone.
Funny duck
I thought this book on Saints would be perfect for my 8 year old. I thought the book was confusing and not arranged well.
I have learned so much knowledge in this book, hidden stuff that wasn't in the bible. its a must buy
This is the new revised version featuring 57 stories aimed at older elementary and middle school readers. Each story highlights a saint or related saints in a short-story format. The stories are organized chronologically and include biographical information and the saints' feast day. Many stories also include wonderful illustrations of the profiled saints. The stories are written in lively, accessible language and each conclude with a summary thought or reflection.
I, too, took this book away from my 9 year old. WAY too graphic in MANY of the stories. Since I only purchased this book last year, I assume I have the newer version (need to check this), but it still contains stories of incest and alludes to sexual content not appropriate for this age group (St. Dymphna, for one). I think this book is labelled incorrectly; should be for ages 14+.
